9" Aura Battler Dunbine Limited Edition Romando Japan Pre-painted Garage Kit

Aura Battler Dunbine 聖戦士ダンバイン is a nostalgia anime with the elements of both medieval with bio-mecha suits which is made from shells and muscles of some gigantic monstrous bug living in some kind of parallel world. Personally, I didn't follow the anime however had my impression of this insect-like-robot with aerial wings ability, during my years of playing turn-based strategy game like Super Robot Wars Taisen.

Rare found of a vintage limited edition colorway on local handphone buy/sell/trade apps Carousell at a really good deal considering this a resin-cast model. Released back then by Romando (Defunct company) Japan Model Clover Popy Bullmark, which is now so hard to find or even unknown to mass majority. Beautifully sculpted, pre-painted resin-cast model figure with intricate details right down to textures on the body. Very much like a trial product in the 90s to combine resin with plamo technology targeting hobbyists with less experience, like myself.

This is the limited edition colorway which is a darker color from the normal. Model is 1/42 scale, well-proportioned and stand approximately 9" in height. I kind of like the scale as it almost the height of a 1/100 scale Gunpla which I had put them beside one another for reference. Pre-painted and requires assembling of parts and joints.

The garage kit supposedly comes articulation and poseability however most of the poly-caps didn't fit well so require a lot of glue and tightening of joints to make the kit firmly intact. The 4 tube signal shot rocket weapon with claws on the forearms are optional parts. There are a few optional fists as well one that gripped the sword permanently. The insect wings can also spread out.

Box has shelf wears over the years and some oil stains. When I first held the box, the cardboard felt moist and wrinkled like it would disintegrate anytime in my hands. I never intended to keep the box anyway. There's a literature printed on the rear of the box that goes "The people who remember the story of Bystonewell are happy. It is because a heart is expressive. It had the memory sealed, and we were born. Nevertheless, we had the "fate which couldn't be remembered" delivered. Therefore, we introduce the next story to tell Mi Fellario to you."

i have not watched the Aura Battle anime series either, but i do have references of the vintage model kits still available, albeit very hard to get nowadays, made by Bandai... a pre-painted kit is a very good option for a collectible and i can see that unlike the model kits, this figure has a subtle yet noticeable skin texture, which adds a lot of charm and realism to the piece... now i love their odd and vintage appearance, but a few years ago i would pass on them !!!... =D

Great to hear that you have the model kit. The later version to my understanding was a HG High Grade released. I really like this for the size and texture. Like you mentioned a more realistic feel and look. Looks great on display and project uniqueness in its own way.

Bro, I found this on Wiki

A garage kit or resin kit is an assembly scale model kit most commonly cast in polyurethane resin.

Personally this figure remind me of The Guyver. Color theme and such.

Indeed, the texture and colour has that Guyver feel. Nostalgic ^_^
